Where research, practice, and lived experience come together

My work sits at the intersection of neuroscience, education systems, and the first-hand experience of navigating those systems as a parent.

My Story

I help K‑12 systems, universities, employers, and parents turn neurodiversity science into practical, lasting solutions — shifting mindsets and systems so the growing number of neurodivergent people are understood, valued, and able to thrive. This work is shaped by both my professional expertise and my lived experience as a parent.

For more than 20 years, I've worked at the intersection of education leadership, faculty development, and systems change. I founded and led Creative Minds International PCS, a 550‑student UDL-based public charter school in Washington, D.C. that became a model for neuroinclusive design. I've built faculty development workshops at American University and Johns Hopkins University, and have advised schools, universities, and organizations on scalable, neurodiversity‑affirming practice nationally and internationally.

I currently serve as Senior Professorial Lecturer and Lead Clinical Faculty at American University, where I research neurodivergent student transitions and belonging in higher education. Through my consulting practice, I continue to work with leaders, educators, and organizations who are ready to move beyond accommodation and build environments where neurodivergent people genuinely belong.

What I bring to this work:

A deep grounding in evidence-based frameworks — Universal Design for Learning, executive-function science, trauma-informed practice, and disability law — translated into practical, scalable solutions that strengthen recruitment, retention, and engagement across educational and professional settings. I coach leaders, teachers, and parents; design inclusive programs, policies, and systems; and facilitate professional learning that shifts both mindsets and practice.

I have presented my work across the U.S. and internationally, including at the Gobal Education Summit and an upcoming presentation at the London International Conference on Inclusive Education (LICIE) in July 2026.

How We Turn Insight Into Action

1

Assess

I take a whole-system look at the environment, the people, and the practices, examining how well current conditions support learning, belonging, and growth for everyone.

2

Design

I design strategies and environments grounded in Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and the latest neuroscience — tailored to the specific people, setting, and goals involved.

3

Implement + Adjust

Together we move from strategy to action, refining and deepening the work over time — because real inclusion is a process, not a checklist.
